I am subscribing to this Substack just so I can get the news about when these books are ready for me to read them. So excited! Thank you for including the details about the frenzy leading up to the auction. For 'work work' I edit scientific grant proposals. There's something I really love about the intense period of working very closely with someonethat matters very much to their career, that I'm championing, and that transpires over a relatively short time frame (the super intense part is never longer than about 10 days). It's propulsive and fun and I often have a hard time coming down from it - and I miss the people when their grant is submitted and they don't need me anymore!

Anyway, thanks again for including that. It's the closest I've ever seen someone describe one of my favorite aspects of my job.

Jessica, so so pleased for you! And so excited about the projects! The summary has hooked me already with its quirky characters and punny business names.

I can totally understand your needing a "palate cleanser" for bedtime reading. I'm the same way, after spending lots of time reading/researching how racial injustice continues to influence our society. I've also landed on cozy mysteries for their charming characters, happy endings, and gentle humor. Thanks for all the behind-the-scenes details of your exciting journey. I have only limited knowledge of the specifics of publishing, so I found those details fascinating. But we have to wait until 2026? *pout* I hope you'll keep the details coming as you navigate the process. My inquiring mind wants to know. :-)

P.S. Do you know about author Emily James? She has a couple of cozy series I can recommend: the Maple Syrup Mysteries and the Cupcake Truck Mysteries. With your love of puns, you'll chuckle at the titles of her books.
